Right Now

I am having breakfast in the Old Judiciary Room at the Capitol. The breakfast is sponsored by True Colors, the Commission on Children, the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, and Senator Beth Bye in celebration of twenty-fifth anniversary of the passage of the sexual orientation of the sexual orientation non-discrimination legislation.

The legislation was one of the first in the nation to cover sexual orientation and there is an effort underway to make a technical change to the statue to move it over to the other non-discrimination statues. When it was passed back in 1991 it was a standalone statute and now they are trying to move it into general non-discrimination statues.
