We Have Protection For The Kids, But…

A lot times we don’t have protection for adult bullying or if there is it is not followed.

It was just recently that the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) had a policy on employment against trans people and eighteen states and the District of Columbian have protection for trans people in employment, but Wisconsin is not one of them.

But Greinke said workplace bullying was too much for her transgender daughter to handle. Karis committed suicide in November 2014 and left a suicide note, saying the bullying had happened for 10 years, while teaching at German Immersion School.
And the school system knew this was happening and did nothing,
Family and friends said Karis voiced her concerns to the school's principal, but they went ignored.
The school district actually has a policy that states in part…
(2) HARASSMENT/BULLYING (NON-SEXUAL)
(a) The District is committed to maintaining and ensuring a workplace that is free from all other types of workplace harassment. Harassment based on race or any other statutorily protected class or protected activity (e.g., religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, or complaint reporting) is unlawful. Harassment or bullying based on gender identity and/or expression is prohibited. Harassment or bullying for non-discriminatory reasons is inappropriate.
(b) The District is committed to taking appropriate action to sustain a work environment free from any and all types of bullying. Bullying is deliberate or intentional behavior using words or actions intended to cause fear, humiliation, intimidation, harm, or social exclusion. Bullying often involves repeated behavior and an imbalance of power.
But like so many employers what their policy says and what they do is two different things. I applaud the mother in not taking legal action but sometimes that is the only way to bring about change.
