World’s AIDS Day

Before I came out I never knew anyone who had AIDS/HIV but as I worked helping the trans-community I many trans-people who had AIDS/HIV. In one study they found that “2.6% compared to .6% in
the general population.”

In Hartford on December 4^th there will be a theater presentation, poetry, music and food at The Artists Collective. The New Register in an article said,

Shawn Lang, director of public policy at AIDS Connecticut said there is “no end in sight” and advocates are “calling on everyone to commit to a renewed sense of energy and urgency.”

Lang’s group estimates there are nearly 2,000 people living with AIDS in the city of Hartford.
